Close to a third of Bulgarian homes are sold before they are built. Sign that contract and you are not a buyer — you are an investor in a project that can change price, or be cancelled and sold to someone else.

Why it matters

Every project is its own shell company. If it fails they close that company, the developer's main business carries on untouched, and your contract was with the shell.

How it works

Pocket Broker layers the commercial register, the courts, enforcement records and the press into one readable picture of who you are dealing with — a week of research, in minutes.

Problem it solves

The old site answered “what is still for sale?” with a 177-row price table per building — no filter, no colour, and nothing that told a buyer where in the building a flat actually sits.

Why it matters

The client’s own brief asked for one thing: a register buyers can orient themselves in, at any moment. Orientation is spatial, and a table is not.

How it works

Every unit became one record, and every surface draws it differently — the building as a grid, the parking as the architect’s own drawing, coloured live by availability.

Problem it solves

A privacy browser with its own search index, funded by an ad system that never saw a single user's data — competing against the strongest habit on the internet.

Why it matters

Both products failed on perception, not on engineering: the search nobody noticed, and the ads that felt like surveillance while collecting nothing.

How it works

I owned the consumer surface of all three products — research, personas, prototypes, shipped front end, and the A/B tests that decided what stayed.

Problem it solves

A coupon site rents every visitor from Google. The only channel we owned was the email list — and I had the wrong theory about how to grow it.

Why it matters

Rented traffic has to be re-won every morning; an owned list compounds. The newsletter grew into 20–23% of company revenue.

How it works

An A/B test killed my polite-signup hypothesis, so I shipped the intrusive modal I had argued against and templated it across 14 countries.

Problem it solves

Shared hosting kept getting pricier and less flexible, and self-managing servers felt like something you hire for.

Why it matters

Owning the infrastructure lowers long-term cost and gives full control without a full-time sysadmin.

How it works

Migrated to my own VPS and use Claude-powered agents for setup, monitoring, and rebuilds in 5–10 minutes.

Problem it solves

My 1Password 6 lifetime license broke after a macOS update, and the only fix was a paid subscription. Vault 80 imports my existing passwords and keeps them encrypted locally — no monthly fee.

Why it matters

I wanted ownership of my password data, local control, and a lightweight tool without another subscription.

How it works

It is a desktop application that imports CSV password records, encrypts them locally, and is available as a packaged GitHub release.

The insight
